Arctic sea ice
PARIS, October 1, 2013 (AFP) - Arctic ice melt due to global warming is having an unexpected impact on West Greenland's caribou, causing fewer calves to be born and boosting their death rate, a study said Tuesday.
PARIS, September 11, 2013 (AFP) - Arctic sea ice, which has been declining in area by unprecedented amounts in summer, is also falling in volume, the European Space Agency (ESA) said on Wednesday.
WASHINGTON (VOR)— Scorching summers, wildfires, floods, tornadoes and extreme winters.
WASHINGTON – In September, the sea ice that covers the Arctic Ocean dropped to its lowest levels since 1979, when satellite records began being recorded. The ice melt occurred without any of the unusual weather conditions that were believed to contribute to the last "extreme" melt in 2007.
GENEVA (AFP) - Extreme temperatures, drought, floods and the unprecedented loss of Arctic ice marked global weather in 2012, boosting concern at the march of climate change, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said Wednesday.
A new report from the National Snow and Ice Data Center shows that this year's Arctic sea ice has melted to its lowest level since 1979, when the data was first recorded.
