Gay marriage opponents outraged at same-sex marriage at TV parade

By Ric Young

WASHINGTON (VOR) – A nationally televised New Year’s Day parade from California featured a same-sex couple getting married on a float.

Host Ric Young talked with Brian Brown, co-founder of the National Organization for Marriage in Washington DC, which opposes same-sex marriage and says children and families opposed to gay marriage should not be forced to see the practice at a public event.

Brown also told the Associated Press that children watching Wednesday’s parade would “be exposed to the spectacle of men ‘marrying’ men with the attendant public hugging and kissing.” He also says politics should not be injected into family events like national parades or anyplace that children might be in attendance. According to published reports one opponent started a Facebook page boycotting the parade and received over 4,000 "likes".
