This time on Russian BookWorld we enter a spooky yet exciting world of ghosts, doppelgangers and haunted places. The book we are taking today has an intriguing and fittingly eerie title - Red Specters: Russian Gothic Tales from the Twentieth Century.

Recently published by Angel Classics the collection feature 11 gothic stories by Russian writers of the first third of the xx century. We talk to Muireann Magire who selected and translated the stories in the collection about her long standing interest in Russian Gothic fiction as well as individual authors that feature in the book- some famous like Bulgakhov and Bryusov, some rather obscure, such as Geogry Peskov and Pavel Perov but all able not just to titillate our senses but also illuminate our minds.
