Japan PM to allow wider use of military force abroad

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's cabinet to allow more use of military force abroad. Japan Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and its coalition partner New Komeito agreed before that the army should be allowed to defend allied countries when they come under attack.

Prime Minister has supported a more active role for the military forces, arguing that this could be achieved by reinterpreting the country's post-war constitution.

LDP vice president Masahiko Komura said that he hoped that militaries would be able to take part in UN collective security measures in the future, the Kyodo News agency reported.
