Mandate of OSCE mission in Ukraine reflects new political realities – Russia

The mandate of the OSCE mission in Ukraine, which does not apply to Sevastopol and Crimea due to their being part of Russia, reflects the new political and legal realities, the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation has said.

Friday evening, the OSCE Permanent Council adopted a decision on sending a broad observation mission to Ukraine; the resolution on the mandate of the mission was adopted by consensus of all 57 states participants of the OSCE.

"The mission's mandate reflects the new political and legal realities and does not apply to Sevastopol and Crimea, which became part of Russia. It provides for accommodation of 100 international civilian observers in Kiev and nine other cities in the West, East and South of Ukraine," the commentary of the Russian Foreign Ministry posted on its website on Saturday says.
