Crimea minister says OSCE team to monitor Crimea referendum

Observers who will monitor Sunday's planned referendum in Crimea are going to include a team from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, according to a top figure in the Crimean government.

"OSCE observers were due to arrive with a flight from Sheremetyevo late last night. They bought tickets and checked in for the flight.

This means they should be here already," Crimean First Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Temirgaliyev told Interfax on Saturday.

He said there would be observers from 23 countries, including European Union nations and Russia, at the plebiscite.

Later, the head of the referendum organizing commission, Mikhail Malyshev, said the commission had registered no OSCE observers.
