Ban Ki-moon marks 2 years since the outbreak of Syrian conflict

The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, marked a mournful date Monday, namely two years since the outbreak of the Syrian conflict, and urged the international community to prevent a complete destruction of the Arab country.

The Secretary General’s representative, Martin Nesirky, has circulated a statement on Ban Ki-moon’s behalf to point out that sporadic air attacks, rocket and artillery gunfire, as well as bomb blasts in residential quarters are continuing, while radicals are gaining strength.

Efforts should be made to speedily find a political solution while there is still time to prevent Syria’s complete destruction, the statement says.
