Czech Republic poised to veto EU budget

The Czech Republic is ready to impose a veto on the EU’s seven-year budget in case of its significant cuts, Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas told a EU summit in Brussels on Thursday.

He slammed European Commission President Herman Van Rompuy’s proposal on budget cuts as unacceptable.

The Czech Republic and Poland have repeatedly warned against reducing the EU’s budget that helps the two countries’ economies to stay afloat.
