Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in Cairo today to take part in the summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation due on the 6th -7th of February.
The Iranian leader’s visit is the first one in three decades. According to the MENA information agency, during the talks the two countries’ leaders discussed the issues of normalizing relations and also the prospects of settling the Syrian crisis without foreign military interference.
Cairo and Tehran broke off diplomatic relations in 1980 because of the peace treaty with Israel signed by former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat.
