Medvedev approves new consumer basket standards

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has approved the new parameters of Russian citizens’ consumer basket. 

From now on it will contain bigger volume of such food products as meat, eggs, fish, vegetables and fruits, the government’s press service report. At the same time the volume of bread, potatoes, margarine and vegetable oil has been reduced.

Besides that Medvedev has signed a ruling which introduces new living wage per capita and depending on major demography groups in the Russian Federation.

The document suggests a mechanism of correcting prices for non-food products and services, which will reflect a ratio of indexes for consumer prices for non-food products and services and the index of consumer prices for food.
