Medvedev congratulates Patriarch Kirill

Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has congratulated Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on the 4th anniversary of his consecration.

They met at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow. Medvedev highly praised the role of the Russian Patriarch in the strengthening of national accord in the country, and also his efforts in the defence of family, motherhood and childhood, as well as his contribution to bringing up young people.

President Vladimir Putin has sent a congratulatory telegram to Patriarch Kirill.

He won the incontestable authority thanks to his selfless labour and devoted service to the Motherland, Putin said.

Solemn services were offered in all Orthodox churches in Russia on the occasion.
