Estonia’s authorities against teaching in Russian in private schools

On Thursday, Estonia’s government adopted amendments to the country’s law on private schools, which ban teaching in the Russian language in private schools.

A ban on teaching in Russian in government schools already exists in Estonia.

The amendments were introduced after the authorities of Estonia’s capital Tallinn and the city of Narva (the latter is populated mainly by Russian speakers) intended to create private schools offering instruction in Russian in their cities.
