Iraqi inmates escape from prison near Baghdad

At least 12 inmates, including al-Qaida-linked death row jailbirds have escaped from a prison near Baghdad, AFP said Friday.

The prisoners managed to escape through windows in their cells early in the morning and then seized the weapons of the guards.

Police suspect the prison’s guards to have connived the break.
