Putin bolsters rule of law in Russian Army

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a package of amendments to the federal defense law to bolster the rule of law in the country’s armed forces, the Kremlin reports.

The amended law will beef up legal oversight of all Russian troops and get them under legal control of the Prosecutor General’s Office and its staff.

Investigations in the Army will be carried out according to the Russian criminal code, while justice will be placed in the hands of corresponding courts.
