F-16 jet engines stolen from Israel airbase

Several F-16 fighter-jet engines have been stolen from an Israeli air force base, local Galei Zahal military radio station reports.

The thieves allegedly conspired with air base staff to snatch the US-made engines, which they might want to sell off as metal scrap, the radio suggests. The Israeli military haven’t commented on this.

In a similar case in 2011, thieves made off with F-15 and F-16 engines after they had broken into the Tel Nof air base, near Tel Aviv. The pricy ‘metal pieces’ were later discovered at a scrap dealer’s.
