UNGA urges Israel to sign up to nuclear nonproliferation treaty

The UN General Assembly adopted on Monday a resolution urging Israel to sign up to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Israel is the only country in the region which has not yet done so. The resolution also calls on the Jewish State to place all its nuclear activities under the Atomic Energy Agency's monitoring and safeguard system.

Even though Tel Aviv neither confirms nor denies its nuclear capability, Russian intelligence believes Israel may have between 100 and 200 nuclear warheads.
