Medvedev heading for Kyrgyzstan for Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting

Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is heading for Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan, today, where the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is to open its 11th prime ministers' meeting, a source in the Russian government has told.

Medvedev will meet his Kyrgyzstan’s counterpart and have some other bilateral meetings.

It is expected that the prime ministers will discuss issues promoting further cooperation between the members of the SCO in such spheres as transport, trade, energy, telecommunication, science and technology and emergency response.

The organization groups China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
