New York Parade puzzled at confetti made of secret police records

Those who attended the 86th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York on November 22 were surprised to find out that confetti on their clothes were badly-shredded confidential documents from a New York police department.

The Nassau Police Department has already admitted that the documents disposed to people who came to one of America’s biggest annual spectacles belong to them, but said they have no idea how they found their way to the crowd.

“The Nassau County Police Department is very concerned about this situation. We will be conducting an investigation into this matter,” said Inspector Kenneth Lack.

Some of the documents were fragments of police reports, others contained names of undercover officers.

The parade’s organizers said they normally used “commercially manufactured, multicolor confetti, not shredded paper.” They also said they knew nothing of who distributed the confetti.
