Polish nationalists stage fight with police in Warsaw

Nationalists staged a fight with police in Warsaw during celebrations in honour of Polish Independence Day. At least six police officers were injured.

The nationalists threw stones, bottles and Molotov cocktails at police who responded with batons and tear gas.The police had to cordon off the march in the city centre and disperse its participants but the disorders moved to the Centrum underground station.

The square in front of the station was full of smoke generated by explosive cartridges. Police helicopters made circles in the sky above.

The rioters managed to bypass police cordons and move to Constitution Square.

Peaceful actions are going on near the site of the clashes.

More than 130 people have been detained according to police.
