Russia to donate $1.5bln to Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan

Russia is ready to channel $1.5 billion to meet Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan’s military needs, Kommersant reports citing its own sources.

In accordance with agreements signed during President Putin’s visit to Bishkek in September, $1.1billion will be spent to re-equip the Kyrgyz army.

The first consignments of Russian weapons will be dispatched to Kyrgyzstan in the summer of 2013.

$200 million will be donated to upgrade and renovate Tajikistan’s armed forces.

In addition, Russia is prepared to grant Dushanbe $200 million in oil supply benefits, Kommersant reports.
