CIA to stay in Baghdad and Kabul
CIA would retain its presence in Baghdad and Kabul after US combat troops pulled out, The Washington Post reported today.
American intelligence operatives in Baghdad will be monitoring developments in the Iraqi government, warding off al-Qaeda insurgencies and curbing Iran’s influence.
After the troops withdrawal, CIA is planning to tighten its cooperation with Special Operations forces.
CIA’s bases in Afghanistan and Iraq will remain America’s largest oversea outposts amid scaled-down funding.
