Tajik reporter attacked in Moscow, Russian police file suit
Russian law enforcement agencies have filed a lawsuit on charges of an attack in Moscow on a member of the Tajik opposition, a reporter Dodozhon Atovulloyev.
The stabbed 56-year old was found on a Moscow street on Thursday night and rushed to hospital. He fled Tajikistan when Emomali Rahmon came to power in the Central Asian republic in 1992.
The authorities in Dushanbe accused Atovulloyev of insulting the President and requested Russia to extradite him on more than 20 occasions.
Tajikistan’s Prosecutor-General’s Office opened a criminal case against him last in October 2011 and demanded that Atovulloyev be extradited, but met with yet another refusal from Moscow.
The Tajik opposition reporter has long since lived outside his country.
