S Korean icebreaker to the rescue

A South Korean icebreaker has left New Zealand on a mission to rescue the Russian fishing boat that remains stuck in Antarctic ice. The arrival is expected within nine days. A Norwegian and two Russian boats in the vicinity have so far failed to reach the distressed Russian ship.

A South Korean icebreaker has left New Zealand on a mission to rescue the Russian fishing boat that remains stuck in Antarctic ice. The arrival is expected within nine days.

A Norwegian and two Russian boats in the vicinity have so far failed to reach the distressed Russian ship.

The crew of the distressed Sparta boat consists of 15 Russians, 16 Indonesians and a Ukrainian. They are reported to have successfully patched an underwater hole in their ship’s hull.
