Iran’s representative calls the West’s plans aggressive
Speaking at a meeting of the UN General Assembly, Iran’s representative Muhammad Ali Mottakinejad accused the West of stoking anti-Iranian sentiments in the Middle East, because it allegedly allows the West to sell more weapons.
Mr. Mottakinejad also criticized the West for its plans of a military operation against Iran under the pretext of maintaining peace in the Middle East, and called on the West to reject this idea.
For many years, the US and the EU have been suspecting Iran of secretly creating, if not already producing, nuclear weapons. Iran answers that it does develop nuclear energy, but this project is exceptionally of peaceful character.
On Thursday, foreign ministers of the EU countries introduced some additional sanctions against Iran, but they failed to agree about whether and to a what extent a ban on imports of Iranian oil to Europe should be introduced.
