In China, landslide traps 12 miners

12 miners were caught underground as a result of a landslide in a mine in central China earlier this Friday. The incident occurred early this morning in a place 350 kilometres northeast of the city of Hohhot, in the Inner Mongolia province.

12 miners were caught underground as a result of a landslide in a mine in central China earlier this Friday.

The incident occurred early this morning in a place 350 kilometres northeast of the city of Hohhot, in the Inner Mongolia province. 53 miners were trapped when a mine collapsed in the central Chinese province of Henan on the 3rd of this month. 45 miners were rescued then, while the other eight, died.

China’s coalmining industry is one of the most hazardous in the world. 2,500 miners suffered in accidents in China last year, while 1,500, in the first nine months of this year.
