Moscow welcomes release of Israeli soldier

Moscow finds that the release of Israeli Corporal Gilad Shalit in exchange for Palestinian prisoners will contribute to better atmosphere in the Palestine-Israeli relations. The exchange gives reasons to expect that the parties will mange to make progress in the settlement of other sensitive issues,  the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement read.

The exchange gives reasons to expect that the parties will mange to make progress in the settlement of other sensitive issues,  the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement read.

Shalit who remained in the Palestinian prison for more than five years was handed over to Israel on Tuesday. He has already met his relatives. Also on Tuesday 477 Palestinian prisoners were released from Israeli prisons and another 550 will be released in December.
