Iraqis want US military presence terminated
Over 2.5 million Iraqis have signed a demand that the US military presence in the country should be terminated.
According to the Al-Iraqiya TV channel, the address to parliament and the government urges that politicians should heed the voice of the people who stand both for a US troop withdrawal and for denying the US any extension of its military presence in Iraq.
In keeping with a strategic agreement between Baghdad and Washington, the US troops should leave Iraq before the end of the year. However, quite a few US military advisers are due to stay on to train Iraqi troops.
