A previous report had announced a radiation level spike of 10 million above the normal level. However, later the company TEPCO said it had botched the measurements.

Meanwhile, a small amount of radioactive substances has been detected in rain water in the north-east of the United States. As the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has reported, local sources of water supply will not suffer because of the dangerous isotopes.

In the wake of the March 11th earthquake in Japan there were several breakdowns at the “Fukushima-1” nuclear power plant, resulting in leakage of radiation.
