USSR ex-President Mikhail Gorbachev who on March 2 will celebrate his 80th birthday, has instituted an international prize named The Man Who Changed the World, ITAR-TASS reported Monday.

USSR ex-President Mikhail Gorbachev who on March 2 will celebrate his 80th birthday, has instituted an international prize named The Man Who Changed the World, ITAR-TASS reported Monday.

The prize will be given to people “who made a unique contribution to the development of the modern civilization, culture, science and technology” The authors of breakthrough global-scale projects, "will be annually awarded with the Gorbachev prize".

The prize will have three nominations, all buzzwords of Gorbachev reforms  – “Perestroika” (Reforming) – “Glasnost” (Freedom of speech) – “Uskorenie” (Speeding up).
