Switzerland froze  assets held in the country by former Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and Ivory Coast leader Laurent Gbagbo to “prevent any possible misuse” of the funds, the country’s Foreign Ministry announced.

This follows  Gbagbo’s  refusal to hand power to Alassane Ouattara, the internationally recognized winner of Ivory Coast’s  presidential election.

As for Tunisia’s ex-leader, Ben Ali, who headed the country  for 23 years,  has recently  fled to Saudi Arabia after the weeks of unrest over unemployment, corruption and repression.
