Lavrov, Clinton invited to East Asia Summit
The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have been invited to attend the East Asia Summit as special guests, Bloomberg reported Wednesday.
The East Asia Summit is an annual meeting involving 16 countries of East Asia, where the organization of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) plays the key role.
The US refused to join the summit because it had not signed a friendship and cooperation treaty binding the member-countries not to use force in the region.
Russia and Australia signed the treaty.
