The Klyuchevskoy volcano on Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula has started emitting lava at an altitude of 500 meters, seismologists said on Monday, adding that ash emissions are expected for later this week. There were no immediate reports of damage, with local emergency officials already on heightened alert because of the eruption.

Klyuchevskoy, at a height of 4,750 meters above sea-level, is one of the world's highest active volcanoes.
