Russia to denounce Israel for Gaza-bound convoy at Security Council
Russia condemns Israel for its recent military operation against the Gaza-bound humanitarian aid convoy and will make this clear at the UN Security Council.
This came in a statement by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin when he spoke at a news conference following his talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Erdogan in Istanbul.
The city is playing host to the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia.
Putin offered condolences over victims among Turkish human rights activists. He said he especially deplored the fact that the attack was mounted in neutral waters. The Russian Prime Minister added that he had discussed the situation at length with Erdogan.
Israel attacked the Gaza-bound Freedom Flotilla’s six ships with human rights activists and humanitarian cargo on board on May 31st. Nine Turkish human rights activists died in the attack.
